Riverside's Aims and Objectives
- To provide a beautiful, safe setting with a happy, friendly atmosphere where people of all ages can come to learn to ride and train horses.
- To train horse riding coaches in all aspects of managing a riding school and competition stables.

Background
Riverside Equestrian Centre is located at Moggill in a park-like setting on the banks of the Brisbane River. At Riverside riders can enjoy the experience of riding in a country atmosphere just a half hour drive from the centre of Brisbane.
Riverside offers group and private riding lessons for junior and senior riders. Although the emphasis is on dressage, we teach the basic riding skills required for all horse sports and pleasure riding. Group riding lessons last for two hours rather than just the 45 minutes of riding time, as riders are taught to catch, saddle and care for their horses in addition to riding. This training in horsemanship is invaluable for those riders who dream of owning their own horse.
Jenny Gehrke offers advanced dressage lessons to selected riders on their own horses.
Weekly pupils, who are 10 and over, are invited to come for additional time as helpers once they can groom and saddle a horse and control it at walk, trot and canter. These helpers assist beginner riders groom their horses and also help in the lessons under close supervision by an experienced senior instructor. Helpers also may be given extra riding time in special helper rides.
School horses, which are the real schoolmasters, range in size from 17hh warmbloods, down to 11 hh welsh ponies. Riders can also bring their own horses or ponies for group or individual lessons.
Lessons are held even when it rains as our riding areas include a small indoor school, two 20m x 60m sand arenas, one of which has a 10m mirror at one end, and various paddocks with hills and small cross country jumps.
For children who want to ride casually we have Bridle Club and Saddle Club on the weekends.
Riverside holds full and half day riding camps during all state school holidays.

I have known Jenny Gehrke for 10 years. In this time I have been privileged enough to train and watch her both as a coach and a competitor. I did my final training for NCAS Level 1 in 2005 with Jenny and owe her a debt of gratitude for this period. Her diligence, professionalism, knowledge and support to all the candidates at this time was over whelming. I can honestly say that I would not have passed if it had not been for Jenny.
On the competition side, I have watched Jenny with admiration. In my time as a professional event rider, I have witnessed many in the competition routine and I am not always impressed. The way she handles her horses, her competition duties and the training of her own students is totally professional. She does all this with a smile on her face as if it is the easiest, most fun thing in the world. To her it is!!
Jenny's horses are always immaculately presented. They are a credit to her training and dedication and to watch her with them, it is apparent that she genuinely loves.. She has a wonderful ability to strike up that essential "partnership" element with any horse she works with. This is particularly evident with APH Magma who, in my opinion, wouldn't have reached Grand Prix with any other rider.
I don't need to wish Jenny every success as she has all the necessary elements to succeed. She is an absolute hero of mine................

Channel Ten's Totally Wild
Network Ten had the pleasure of working with Jenny Gehrke, Liz White and their fabulous team of horse instructors and helpers at Riverside Equestrian Centre for Totally Wild. Over the course of a day, our chosen children were put through their paces, learning horse riding, horse management and participating in team building activities.
We were wholly impressed by Riverside Equestrian Centre's professionalism, manner with the children and teaching prowess. They completely understood the needs of our production and were very organised yet flexible with their schedule.
Network Ten even received feedback from parents who all expressed how much their child enjoyed the experience. We can't recommend Riverside Equestrian Centre enough for all the horse riding and management skills any child would need!
